About The Arsenault Family
Please sign in to see more.
The first colony in Canada was founded in the year 1604. The first settlers came from France with Sieur de Monts and Samuel de Champlaine.

They settled on an island in the Ste. Croix river, near what is now Ste. Stephen, NB. They called it Ste. Croix Island, later known to be known as Dochets Island.

There were 79 men on the island. The first winter, 34 men died of scurvy.

The winter was very cold on the island, so they moved the next summer (1605) across the Bay of Fundy to Port Royal (now Annapolis Royal) Acadia (Nova Scotia).

Pierre Arsenault (born in 1646 in France) sailed on a ship called the "Oranger" from LaRochelle, France to Port-Royale de Rochefort in 1671. There were 60 colonists on the ship. In 1686, his name is listed as one of the noblemen (seigneur) of Breaubassin but he was in Port-Royal.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
